Appendix

Appendix, also called vermiform appendix, is a term in anatomy for a tube-shaped sac appended to and opening into the lower end of the large intestine in some mammals including humans. Appendix in humans is small and has no known function, though some claims have been made that it helps the immune system. However, in rabbits, hares, and some other herbivorous, it has been found involved in the digestion of cellulose. Appendixes is its plural form.

Appendix is also the the additional matter appended at the end of a book or document. Appendices is its plural form.
