Appian Way

Appian Way, Latin name Via Appia, was a magnificent principal highway south from Rome to Brundusium. It was named after the censor Appius Claudius Caecus, who begun it in 312 BC and was finished by Augustus. Appius built the section to Capua. The road was later extended to Brindisi.
