Aragon

Aragon is a territory in the northeast of Spain. It is presently an autonomous region, but was formerly and independent kingdom till 1469. It was united with Catalonia in 1137 and with Castile in 1479. The Aragon region is bounded on the north by the Pyrenees and on the east by Catalonia and Valencia. Saragossa is its capital city.

Aragon is traversed by the Ebro, and divided as one proceeds southward into the provinces of Huesca, Saragossa, and Teruel, mountainous in the north; with beautiful fertile valleys, rather barren, in the south.
