Arasavilli

Arasavilli is in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh in India. It is located at about 16 km from Srikakulam town. Its original name was Harshavalli, literally the abode of joy, which later became Arsavilli. However, there are scholars who believe that name of this place was Arsohari. This place is famous for an ancient Sun Temple. The Sun God is depicted riding a chariot driven by Aruna Radha Sarathi. The chariot is drawn by seven horses. These all are carved in a single black granite stone.

This place found mention in Sthalapurana which tells us that Lord Devendra had installed the idol here. Lord Suryanarayana Swamyvaru is the name of the deity in local language. The temple is built in such a way that the sun rays fall of the feet of the deity twice a year in February and June respectively.

There are five idols in the temple which are of the deities Aditya, Ambika, Vishnu, Ganesha, and Maheswara.
