Arawak

The Arawak are a group of people living mainly in Guiana. They are originally of the Greater Antilles and adjacent South America. The more warlike Caribs forced them out of the Antilles shortly before Spanish expansion in the Caribbean.

Any of the languages, a member, or anything relating to the Arawak are simply referred to as an Arawak.

The Arawakan family of languages are widely scattered family of South American Indian languages. Most of them are now either extinct or facing extinction.
