Arbor Vitae
Arbor vitae, also arborvitae, is an evergreen coniferous tree. It is found in North America and eastern Asia. It belongs to the cypress family, and has several species, in particular the northern white cedar. Botanically, it is of the Genus Thuja, and family Cupressaceae. These trees are known for medicinal qualities, and hence called arbor vitae, ie 'tree of life' in Latin.In zoology, the arborescent white matter in a vertical section of the cerebellum is also called arbor vitae.
