Arcadia

Arcadia is the name of a mountainous region in Greece, and a city in the United States. The first has mythological importance, and the second is famous for a race track.

Arcadia of Greece, is a mountain-girt pastoral tableland in the heart of the Morea, 50 miles long by 40 broad. In Greek mythology, it is the home of Pan, and in poetic fantasy it represents a pastoral paradise. It is conceived by the poets as a land of shepherds and shepherdesses, and rustic simplicity and bliss, and was the seat of the worship of Artemis and Pan. Arcadia is now a mountainous district in the Peloponnese of southern Greece.

Arcadia, the city of the United States, is situated in southwestern California, northeast of Los Angeles. It is famous for a racetrack called the Santa Anita.
