Archimedes' principle

Archimedes' principle is a term in physics for a physical principle discovered by Archimedes. It says that a body (solid, insoluble, or non-reacting) immersed partially or totally in a fluid (that is not a solvent for the body, and does not chemically react to it) is subject to an upward force equal in magnitude to the weight of the fluid displaced by the body.
