Arctic

Arctic is the regions around the North Pole, or anything of or relating to it, such as animals or plants living or growing there. Informally, very cold weather conditions are also called arctic. It derives its name from Greek arktikos which meant 'bear, Ursa Major, North Star'.

The Arctic is the name of the regions around the North Pole. A drab-coloured hairy butterfly of the arctic and subarctic regions of the New World belonging to the genus Oenis, family Nymphalidae, and subfamily Satyrinae, is also know by the name arctic.

Arctics are also a kind of North American overshoes. They are thick and waterproof extending to the ankle or above.
