Ark of the Covenant

Ark of the Covenant, also Ark of the Testimony, is a wooden chest of acacia wood overlaid with gold, 2½ cubits long and 1½ in breadth. It contained the two tables of stone inscribed with the Ten Commandments, the gold pot with the manna, and Aaron's rod. The lid supported the mercy-seat, with a cherub at each end, and the shekinah radiance between.

Ancient Israelites carried this wooden chest containing the tablets of the laws on their wanderings in the wilderness. The Ark of the Covenant was finally placed by Solomon in the Temple at Jerusalem.
