Armada
Armada is a fleet of warship. Originally, it was the Spanish Armada, named the Invincible, a naval invasion force, an armament fitted out in 1588 by Philip II of Spain against England, consisting of 130 war-vessels, mounted with 2430 cannon, and manned by 20,000 soldiers. However, it was defeated in the Channel on July 20 by the English fleet led by Admiral Howard, seconded by Drake, Hawkins, and Frobisher. The Spanish Armada was completely dispersed and shattered by a storm off the Hebrides in retreat on the coasts of Scotland and Ireland. The English lost only one ship, and of the whole fleet of the Spanish Armada, only 53 ships found their way back to Spain, and these nearly all 'hors de combat'.
