Armageddon

Armageddon is a name given in Apocalypse (Revelation 16:16 in the New Testament) to the final battle or battlefield between the powers of good and evil, or Christ and Antichrist, before the Day of Judgment.

It is also the name of a biblical hill of Megiddo, now an archaeological site on the plain of Esdraelon, south of the present-day Haifa in Israel, from which the word Armageddon is derived.

Now, Armageddon has also come to mean any dramatic and catastrophic conflict which may completely destroy the world or the human race.
