Armentières

Armentières is a manufacturing and trading town in the department of Nord in France. It is located in the Hauts-de-France region in northern France at a distance of about 12 miles north of Lille, but is part of the Métropole Européenne de Lille. It lies along the Lys River, near the Belgian frontier. It is also known for the Battle of Armentières (also Battle of Lille) which was fought by German and Franco-British forces in 1914 between October 13 and November 2.
