Arminianism

Arminianism is a doctrine propagated by Jacobus Arminius (1560-1609). It is an assertion of the free-will of man in the matter of salvation against the necessitarianism of Calvin. It rejects the Calvinist doctrine of predestination. The doctrine had a considerable influence on Methodism.
