Arrowroot

Arrowroot a herbaceous West Indian plant. Its tubers were being used to absorb poison from wounds from which it derives its name. A fine-grained starch is obtained from this plant which is used in cooking and medicine. The starch is also called arrowroot. Botanical name of this plant is Maranta arundinacea. It belongs to the family Marantaceae.
