Arthur

Arthur was a British prince of wide-spread fame, who became a legendary king of Britain, and who is supposed to have lived at the time of the Saxon invasion in the 6th century. Historically, he was perhaps a 5th or 6th century Romano-British chieftains or general. He became the subject of many legends.

His exploits and those of his court have given birth to the tradition of the Round Table, to the rendering of which Tennyson devoted so much of his genius. Malory, Chrétien de Troyes, and other medieval writers developed stories of his life, the exploits of his knights, and the Round Table of the court at Camelot.
