Ascendant

Ascendant, also ascendent, is a state of being rising in power and influence. In astrology, a planet, zodiacal degree, or sign is said to be ascendant when it is just above the eastern horizon. However, at a particular point of time, such as at the time of a person's birth, that planet or the zodiac sign is said to be ascendant which intersects the eastern horizon at the point on the ecliptic.
