Ashgabat

Ashgabat, also Ashkhabad, formerly known as Poltoratsk (1919-27), is the capital city of the Asian republic of Turkmenistan. It is situated in the central Turkmenistan between the Karakum Desert and the Kopet Dag mountain range in Central Asia.
