Ashoka pillar

Ashoka pillar, also Asoka pillar, is the pillar at Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh having four lions on the capital which has been adopted as a state symbol and seal by the government of India. It was built by the Emperor Ashoka to mark the spot where Lord Buddha first preached his doctrines to his disciples.
