Ashvamedh

Ashvamedh is a yagya. This yagya used to be performed by kings for their paramount importance as Chakravarti Samrat or all-powerful king.
According to Indian mythology, a horse is let loose for a year and allowed to move everywhere. This horse is attended by a royal guard. When the horse enters in the foreign land, the king was compelled to fight or submit to the king who performed the yagya. However, if the horse is not captured during the whole year it is brought back to the capital accompanied by the rulers of the lands it had entered. This horse symbolises the power of the king. Such a king used to get the tittle of Chakravarti.
