Asphodel

Asphodel is a literary term for an immortal flower, a lily plant appraised by the Greeks for its almost perennial flowering, and with which they, in their imagination, covered the Elysian fields, called hence the Asphodel Meadow.

There is also a Eurasian plant of this name belonging to lily family. It has typically long and slender leaves, and flowers borne on a spike. It belongs to the genera Asphodelus and Asphodeline, and the family Likiaceae.
