Ass

Ass is a domesticated hoofed mammal of the horse family. It is typically smaller than a horse, has longer ears, and has a braying call. It belongs to the genus Equus, and the family Equidae. There are two species - Equidae africanus of Africa and Equidae hemionus of Asia. E. africanus is the ancestor of the domestic ass or donkey. Donkey is the proper word for general use, and ass is used technically for the species, informally for a foolish or stupid person, and for a person's buttocks or anus in vulgar slang. In North American vulgar slang, women are also called ass when regarded as a source of sexual gratification.
