Assegai

Assegai, also assagai, is a slender spear or javelin of wood tipped with iron, used by certain southern African tribes with deadly effect in war. The South African tree that yields the hard timber (assegai wood) is also called Assegai. The tree belongs to the dogwood family (Cornaceae). Its botanical name is Curtisia dentata.
