Assisi

Assisi is a town in Central Italy, located in the province of Umbria, 12 miles southeast of Perugia. It is the birthplace and burial-place of St Francis of Assisi, and the birthplace of Metastasio. It is also known as the workplace of another Italian saint St Clare of Assisi. She was an associate of St Francis. it was a celebrated place of resort of pilgrims, who sometimes came in great numbers.
