Ashvinikumar

Ashvinikumar is an epithet of the twin sons of Surya in Indian mythology. Sangya was their mother's name. She had hidden herself in the form of a mare.

Ashvinikumars's real names were Dasra and Nasatya. They were physician of the gods and procreated in Madri. The pandav twins Nakul and Sahdev were born then as Madri's sons. However, Indra did not know about their divinity and offered Som juice to them.

A sage Chyavan compelled Indra to let the Ashvinikumars partake the Som offering as he had received youth from them.

In the Ramayana, the Ashvinikumars's brave monkey sons Maind and Dvivid fought from Lord Ram's side.
