Atharva Veda

Atharva Veda, also Atharvaved, is one of four Vedas in the Hindu pantheon. This is the fourth Veda. It is a collection of hymns, ritual utterances, magic, spell, and incantations. The scripture is written in early Sanskrit and added at a later stage to the already existing the three Vedas - Rig Veda, Sam Veda, and Yajuh Veda. In the Srimad Bhagvad Gita, we find mention of only the three Rik, Sam, Yajureva cha.

Atharva Veda is said to be composed by Atharvan, the name of Brahma's eldest son. It is also known as Brahm Veda ie the Ved of the Brahmans.

Though it is believed to be the last of the Vedas, the fourth one, many scholars contradict it believing that the Vedas were simultaneously composed.
