Atreus
Atreus, in Greek mythology, was a son of Pelops and king of Mycenæ, and father of Agamemnon and Menelaus. To avenge a wrong done to him by his brother Thyestes, Atreus killed Thyestes' two sons, invited him to a banquet, and served him up the flesh of his own children, for which act, as tradition shows, his descendants had to pay heavy penalties.
