Atri

Atri was a name of several sages in Hindu mythology. The most famous one was a sage, who wrote some important Vedic hymns.

He was one of the mind-born sons of Brahma. He was also one of the sages of Saptarshi.

There is also a story in Hindu mythology that tells us that he was born from Brahma’s eyes. Once lord Shiv had cursed Atri and he was destroyed by that curse. It is said that Atri was reborn from the flames of a sacrifice (Yagya) performed by Brahma.

Atri’s wife’s name was Ansuya. He had three sons, Dattatrey, Som, and Durvasa.

Atri was also one of the ten prajapatis.
