Auckland

Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand situated in the North Island with an excellent harbour in the Gulf of Hauraki. It is also the chief seaport city of the country. The city is also the headquarters of a district of the same name. It was also the capital of New Zealand until 1865 when the seat of government was transferred to Wellington.

The excellent harbour was developed in the late 19th century, and by the beginning of 20th century it had a 400 m. long, and 200 m. broad harbour.

Auckland has a fertile soil and a fine climate, and is rich in natural products of all kinds.
