Aurv

Aurv was a sage. According to Indian mythology, he was a grandson Bhrigu and a son of Chyavan. His mother’s name was Arushi.

Aurv had a son named Richik.

The king Kartvirya's sons persecuted and slew the decendants of Bhrigu to recover the wealth which was his father's and which was given to them.

Arushi preserved her embryo in her thigh so that it may not be killed by Kartvirya's sons.

The son thus derived his name Aurv.

Once, Aurv was extremely angry and from his wrath a terrible flame came forth. The brightness of the flame blinded the sons of Kartvirya.

Aurv, the father of Shamika

Aurv was also the name of a Brahman who had a daughter named Shamika. His wife’s name was Sumedha. Shamika was married to Mandar.
