Austere

Austere is a state of being living with no comforts or luxuries, severe in manner, attitude, and appearance, such as an ascetic's life. It is also an extremely simple style of living. Austere policies and measures in economy are those which are designed to reduce public expenditure to minimize or to do away with the budget deficit.
