Autotroph

Autotroph is a term in biology for any organism that is able to manufacture its own food. They form these nutritional organic foods from simple inorganic substances, such as carbon dioxide. Most plants are autotrophs, as are many protists and bacteria. Autotrophs may be photoautotrophic, using light energy to manufacture food, or chemoautotrophic, using chemical energy.
