Avadavat
Avadavat, also amadavat, is a small southern Asian waxbill. It derives its name from the city of Ahmadabad in India, where the birds were sold. It is kept as a caged bird. Two species of the bird are found - Red Avadavat, and Green Avadavat. The males of these two species have red bill and red plumage, and red bill and green plumage respectively. It belongs to the genus Amandava, and the family Estrildidae.
