Avatar, literally Descent in Sanskrit, is the incarnation and incarnated manifestation of a Hindu deity, or released soul in bodily form on earth. In Hinduism, the theory of avatar is a characteristic of Vaishnavism marking a new epoch in the religious development of India. In computing, it is an image, icon, or figure representing a particular person.
