Averroes

Averroes (1126-1198), Arabic name Ibn-Rushd, was an Arabian physician, Islamic philosopher, and judge, known for his commentaries on Aristotle sought to reconcile the Greek philosophical tradition with the Arabic.

He was born in Spain, a Moor by birth and a native of Cordova. He devoted himself to the study and the exposition of Aristotle, earning for himself the title of the "Commentator," though he appears to have coupled with the philosophy of Aristotle the Oriental pantheistic doctrine of emanations.
