Awful

Awful is something very bad, unpleasant, extremely shocking, or horrific. The term is applied to express anything unpleasant or negative with emphasis. A person is also said awful if very unwell or troubled. A very large amount of something is also sometimes referred to as awful, such as an awful lot of books to read.
