Axim

Axim, now part of Ghana, was a trading settlement on the Gold Coast, Africa, belonged to Holland till 1871. It was also called Dutch Gold Coast. After 1871 it belonged to Britain, since on 6 April 1872, the Dutch Gold Coast was, in accordance with the Anglo-Dutch Treaties of 1870–71, ceded to the United Kingdom. When Ghana gained independence from the United Kingdom and became part of the Commonwealth on 6 March 1957 and Republic on 1 July 1960, Axim became part of Ghana.
