BC is an abbreviation for Before Christ. BC is normally written in small capitals and placed after the numerals, such as 125 BC, indicating 125 years before Christ. Even when numericals are spelled, such as 'the third century', it is written 'the third century BC'.

It is also abbreviation for British Columbia, chiefly used as postal code.
