Babul

Babul is a small thorny tree or shrub found in South Asia. It is a tropical acacia. It was introduced in the subcontinent from Africa. It was formerly a source of tannin, but now a source of gum arabic and fuel. Its botanical name is Acacia nilotica, and it belongs to the family Leguminosae.
