Bachelor

Bachelor is a name given to one who has achieved the first grade in any discipline. Bachelor is also a degree, such as Bachelor of Arts, which is awarded after successful completion of the undergraduate bachelor's degree course.

A man who has never been married is also called a bachelor. However, in zoology, this term is applied to a male bird or mammal without mate, especially one that is prevented from mating by a dominant male of the species.

Formerly, the knight or a low order, was also being called a bachelor, especially a young knight serving under another's banner. It has now become a historical term.
