Backlink

Backlink is a term in computing for a hyperlink on a web page linking back to another web page on which a hyperlink pointing the present web page is already given. In this case both the pages are on the same website.

For example, if you are viewing a page having a backlink url icon, by clicking on it you can go to the page where there is a link for the page you are viewing.

In case of different websites, the backlink is an incoming hyperlink from another website's pages. For example, if x.com is hyperlinked from y.com, we say that x.com has a backlink or incoming link from y.com.
