Bailiff

Bailiff is someone who performs certain actions under legal authority. Even the agent or steward of a landlord is called a bailiff. An officer in a court of law is also called bailiff whose responsibilities include keeping order and looking after prisoners. A bailiff is also a sheriff's officer who executes writs and processes and carries out distraints and arrests.
