Ballets Russes

Ballets Russes was a ballet company of Paris. It was formed in Paris by Sergei Diaghilev in 1909. The company was established to revive ballet in western Europe as an art form. They took care of everything relating to ballet, such as music, dance, decor, and costume. They commissioned music from composers like Stravinsky, Satie, and Rimsky-Korsakov. Set for the performances were designed by Picasso and Jean Cocteau. Their choreographers and dancers included Michel Fokine, Anna Pavlova, Vaslav Nijinsky, and George Balanchine.
