Balloon catheter

Balloon catheter is a term in medicine for a type of catheter having a small balloon incorporated in it. It is used to widen a blocked or narrowed blood vessel, especially a coronary artery that supplies blood from the heart to other parts of the body. It is also inserted into a canal or duct. After introducing it into the canal, duct, or blood vessel, it is inflated to clear the blockage or to dilate the narrowed part of the organ.
