Banana

Banana is a fruit and the plant that bears it. The fruit is curved and longer in shape, grows in clusters, has soft pulpy flesh, and typically yellow skin when ripe. The cluster of banana fruits grow only once on a trunk. Due to a treelike plant, it is also called banana plant or banana tree, that grows in the tropical and subtropical reasons. Its large and longer leaves grows on its trunk like a palm, but the trunk is soft due to its not being woody. It belongs to the genus Musa, and the family Musaceae. Several species of banana are found including the popular variety called Musa sapientum.

The top banana, informally, is the most important person in an organisation or activity, while second banana is the second most important person. 'Bananas' is also used informally to refer to a state of being insane or silly. Thus going bananas is to becoming insane and wild.
