Banding

Banding is the formation or presence of visible stripes of contrasting colour, such as found on wasps or bees. The marking of bands or rings on individual birds or other animals is also called banding.

In biochemistry, the pattern of regions made visible by staining on chromosome, or the separation of molecules in a gel into bands of concentration, are also known as banding.
