Banner

Banner is a long strip of cloth bearing slogan or advertising material that is carried in a demonstration or procession or hung in a public place. A banner is also a flag on a pole as a symbol of a monarch, army, or knight etc. Banner is also a headline, heading, or advertisement on the top front-page of a newspaper. On a web page on the internet, it is an advertising in the shape of a bar, column, or a box.

A banner also denotes an idea or principle to which the public opinion is rallied. It also refers to anything excellent or outstanding, such as the banner year.
