Bantam

Bantam is a chief town in Java. It was abandoned as unhealthy by the Dutch. It gave its name to the province of Bantam, and the bantam fowl whence it is thought to have come, although the fowl is not native of the region. Bantam fowl is a chicken of a small breed. The cocks of this breed are noted for their aggressiveness. Bantam is also short form of bantamweight.
