Barb

Barb is the sharp projection angled away from the point of an arrow, fishhook, or similar things that make its extraction difficult. Some wires are barbed, ie they have clusters of spikes. The filament found at the mouth of some fish, such as barbel and catfish is also called barb.

There are several freshwater fish that typically have barbels around their mouth. They are called barb, popular in aquariums, belonging to barbus and other genera, and the family Cyprinidae. Numerous species of barb are found of which the tiger barb (Barbus pentazona) and the rosy barb (Barbus conchonius) more popular than the others.

Barb is also a small horse of a hardy breed originally found in Barbary in North Africa.

The main shaft of a vaned feather has fine hairlike filaments, each of which is called a barb.

Barb is also a hurtful remark that is made deliberately to hurt someone.
