Bardo

Bardo, literally the 'interval between the two' in Tibetan, is a state of existence after death and before rebirth in Tibetan Buddhism. The length of timed of such an existence are varied, which depends upon the parson's conduct in life and the age at and the manner of death.

It also denotes 'between the two', an indeterminate or transitional state of someone or something.
